​Canada Day marks the anniversary of Confederation in 1867. It was originally known as Dominion Day and was renamed in 1982. Canada Day is observed annually on July 1 and is a statutory holiday in British Columbia.

​B.C. Day was first introduced in 1974 as the British Columbia Day Act with the idea of recognizing the pioneers that helped build the province. B.C. Day is observed annually on the first Monday of August and is a statutory holiday in B.C.

Labour Day is a day to celebrate the accomplishments of the labour movement and the benefits of having a union at work. It is observed annually on the first Monday of September and is a statutory holiday in British Columbia.

The Elementary Band & Strings Program is a unique instrumental music program that is distinctive to the NVSD. The program complements the BC Ministry of Education’s Arts Education curriculum and provides school-based instrumental instruction to students in the intermediate grades (Grades 5 – 7 for Band and Grades 4 – 7 for Strings).
